5 Tips for Planning an Elopement or Wedding in Glacier Park
1. Make sure you have your wedding permit. You will need to apply with the park service at least a 20 days in advance. You will also need to obtain a Montana marriage license to marry there.

2. Wear the right footwear. Heels are beautiful, but they may not be the best choice for a Glacier Park Wedding/Elopement Adventure. I recommend hiking boots or flats. You can bring both and even slip on those heels right before your ceremony.
3. Pack multiple layers of clothing for your special day. Glacier Park is gorgeous, but it can also be chilly in the middle of summer. A pretty wrap can not only help keep you warm but makes a beautiful accessory for your wedding photos.
4. Deciding where to have your ceremony in Glacier Park can seem like a daunting task since it is so HUGE. Ask your photographer for guidance in choosing what part of the park to explore and have your ceremony.
5. Follow the rules and walk on allowed areas only. Glacier Park has become an increasingly popular place to visit. Due to the high volume of visitors, there are areas that are roped off or closed where the Park is working to rehabilitate the land. Also, remember to respect the park and leave no trace from your wedding ceremony. Please also be careful around wildlife. The park is their home.
6. A tip I give for all weddings or elopements is to plan some sort of blessing of your marriage. For this Elopement, they chose to do a Native American Smudge Blessing. Allow the burning sage to smoke and smoulder and in the process cleanse, purify, encourage positive energy, good fortune and bless your union.
