5 TIPS FOR WRITING AUTHENTIC WEDDING VOWS
1. In order to write Authentic Wedding Vows make sure to start writing early. *DON’T WAIT UNTIL THE NIGHT BEFORE* We don’t know how many times we had couples doing exactly that before we started sharing these tips. Planning a wedding or elopement can take up a lot of your free time, but it’s essential to prioritize writing the words you share on your wedding day to proclaim your love to the mountains. If you wait until the night before you will be stressed and what you write might not even be authentic since you could feel rushed to copy beautiful words from the internet. We recommend writing your vows no later than one month before your wedding day.
2. Prior to writing your vows talk over with your partner about the vibe, tone, how much spirituality or religion to include, and also the length of time. We have found that shorter is better and that you can share everything important in three to four minutes. Also, promise not to share your vows…let them be a surprise!
3. When writing think about:
-
- Your incredible moments together.
- What have you overcome as a couple, that has made your relationship stronger?
- What was the defining moment when you knew your partner was the one?!?
- What do you want to promise to one another to create a strong foundation to your marriage? What you promise in these vows should be your PROMISE FOREVER.
4. Buy matching vow books to write your personal vows. Reading from your vow books will look so much better than reading off a torn sheet of paper or your phone for your photos and film.
5. Lastly, Practice your vows out loud, this will help you edit your vows down to what feels really important. This is also the ticket to learning your vows. That way you can periodically look into your lover’s eyes as you share your heartfelt vows. (This eye connection full of emotion in your film that expresses the infinity of your love will be one of the moments in your film that you will want to watch on repeat!) Please don’t try to memorize your vows, that is a lot of pressure to place on yourself, but with repeated practice, you will be able to finish your sentences by heart. Being able to look your soulmate in the eye will add more power and intimacy to the moment. If you follow all these tips you will be able to wow your partner with your Authentic Wedding Vows!
