How to Elope in Utah
Hey lovebirds, are you ready for an elopement adventure that will have your hearts racing? Elope in Utah to experience an unforgettable wedding day that’s as unique and extraordinary as your love story! But where do you start? Don’t worry! This blog will help you figure things out!
When to Elope in Utah – Timing is Everything!
The weather greatly varies between Northern and Southern Utah, so take that in mind when deciding on the best time for your “I do!”. Utah gets rather hot in the summer, however, it’s always a bit cooler in the mountains, so don’t let that scare you away!
Spring (March to May):
The wildflowers are in full bloom, and the weather is just right – not too hot, not too cold! It’s also the start of the active tourism season, so keep in mind that you might not be the only ones who want to enjoy the most popular tourist attractions!
Summer (June to August):
If you’re a fan of sunshine and clear skies, this is your season! The days are long, and the nights are warm, making it perfect for those outdoor vows. But don’t forget to pack your sunblock because it can get sizzling out there! The desert heat demands you take it in mind when you elope in southern Utah, especially.
Fall (September to November):
Ah, the golden season! The leaves start to turn, creating breathtaking views of the mountains. The weather is comfortably cool, and the tourism season is coming to an end!
Winter (December to February):
Are you two snow bunnies? Utah’s got you covered! The snow-covered landscapes add a touch of magic to your elopement. It is also the tourism off-season, so that should make sure that even the most popular spots are nice and empty for your special day. Just make sure to bundle up and maybe pack a thermos of hot cocoa for that extra warmth!

Legal Requirements
To elope in Utah, you need also to sort out all the legal stuff. It probably is the least fun part of the process, but it’s very important!
In Utah, you must apply for your marriage license in person, and it can be done at any county clerk’s office. If you’re planning a destination elopement in Utah, meaning you’re traveling for your elopement – make sure you give yourselves time to get this part done! Luckily, there is no waiting period after getting your marriage license, so you can get married as soon as you get it! The marriage license fee will vary from county to county.
You will also need an officiant to solemnize your marriage and two witnesses to sign your marriage license. Matt and I would be happy to be your witnesses, or you can also bring a few of your closest people with you on your elopement day!
In most of the National Parks, you will need to acquire a special permit for your wedding that will range in price from 50 to 500 dollars, depending on the location. This is something you’ll want to do as soon as possible, as well! Figuring out all the legal stuff and permits is something we help our clients with to make sure their elopement day goes as smoothly and stress-free as possible.
