Stacia & Cory | Montana Rocky Mountain Intimate Wedding | 10.10.20
“Mawage, Mawage is what bwings us togeder, today.
OMG!!! What a beautiful wedding day filled with love, laughter and a MOTHERLODE of bad geology puns! What else would you expect when two ROCKing froods decide to CEMENT… (serious, they’re both geologists!!) …and didn’t want to have one of those weddings that’s like being strapped to the Pit of Despair?
Now tell me that these two don’t look like they came straight out of a fairy tale!?! Stacia looked absolutely amazing in her gorgeous tulle gown. She was like a perfect Disney Princess!! And Cory all trimmed and in a nice-looking suit came straight from the Temps Commission. He really cleaned up nice don’t ya think? (He doesn’t want the Instaverse to know how handsome he really is… but I can’t help sharing) ;-D
The day began early with a romantic couples adventure in Black Leaf Canyon capturing moments of tenderness, love, a little some silliness, and of course lots of rocks!! How did I find a couple who loves rocks more than me?!? I really lucked out and got all the insider knowledge now!
Unfortunately not all the rocks loved us during our adventure. We had some issues with some limestone boulders that took a bite out of Stacia’s wedding dress. They didn’t let this get them down, because what matters most on your wedding day is love and connection. It’s a day to celebrate with your special someone! It’s a day to celebrate your love with the important people in your life… while navigating a COVID world. How do you bring joy to any situation? Not much works better than comedy and these two have that in spades! I’m quite confident they’ll be overcome many of life’s little difficulties with humor, jokes, and puns.
Early in the afternoon the sun peaked out warm from behind the clouds and a beautiful, fun, and short ceremony took place in a little meadow with the eastern front of the Rockies in the background. The officiant, …a close friend…, packed a script full of geology puns!! …And lots of other surprises! Here are some excerpts from his script. (It’s too good not to share!)
“Family and friends, we have gathered here today…oh wait..I messed up. Let me start over with a clean slate…”
…ahem…
“Mawage, Mawage is what bwings us togeder, today. Mawage, that bwessed awangement, that dweam wifin a dweam, and luw, tru luw, will foweow you foweva…so tweasuwe your wuv.”
“All of you are here today because you, in one way or another, have been a special part of Cory and Stacia’s lives. It is overwhelming to see how many loving faces surround my friends today, to show your ROCK SOLID SUPPORT and to bear witness to this marriage. After all, this is the best occasion to be SEDIMENTAL. This marriage begins today on the BEDROCK of a long relationship that has been built with trust, love and geology. In fact, I am not too sure if it wasn’t LAVA-T FIRST SIGHT.”
“What began 7 years ago with a friendship and time spent washing the windows in the museum will begin a new chapter today will all of you. Cory and Stacia, your marriage today is the public and legal joining of your souls that have already been united as one in your hearts. Marriage will allow you a new environment to share your lives together, to go rockhounding as husband and wife, to stand together to face life, the world, and terrible new interns. Marriage is going to expand you as individuals, define you as a couple, and deepen your love for one another like an OCEAN PLATE SUBDUCTING AT A CONVERGENCE ZONE.”
“In your lives together, I know you will continue to overcome life’s obstacles with good food, honest friendship and lots of field trips. So let your marriage be a time forever, of waking each morning and falling in love all over again.”
“Look at one another and remember this moment I time. Before this moment you have been many things to one another – boss, acquaintance, friend, companion, lover, and even teacher, for you have learned much from one another. You have learned that good company and friendship count for more than wealth, good looks, or position. And you have learned that marriage is like a complex field project – a project that is best got through with an amazing field partner. Now you shall say a few words that take you across a threshold of life, and things will never quite be the same between you.”
“For after these vows, you shall say to the world and all the witnesses here, Cory is my husband, Stacia is my wife.”
“If any present see FAULT in these two getting married, speak now, or wait another 65 MILLION YEARS.”

Rocky Mountain Intimate Wedding Highlights
Stacia’s Vows:
I promise to always love your dog, even when she punches me in the face.
I promise to always keep you supplied with peanut butter, jelly, and mountain dew.
I promise to always warm my ice cold feet against you every night.
Cory:
I promise to always find things for you to the best of my ability.
I promise to look out for you and take care of you.
I promise to always shy away from your ice cold feet.
Stacia and Cory marriage was blessed with gust of severe wind… that was predicted to come but waited until just after the ceremony. How lucky and wonderful is that?
Thank you for letting us document such an important day of your lives! Your ability to hold off the wind until the end of an adventure will serve you out in the field for many years to come! Best wishes for a life full of rock hounding, geology puns, and never taking each other for GRANITE!! 😉
